 Skywarn Recognition Day

Dec. 1 6pm to Dec. 2 6pm

Thanks to everyone that came out for this special event.  We had a great turnout of people on Saturday to help operate and people that just came out to visit and see the NWS office.

Thanks go to Bill, AD5TD, for coming out early on Friday afternoon to setup an extra antenna and radio for the event.

A special thanks to John Metz, KD5WIV, NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist, for the great food which was enjoyed by everyone.  As soon as everyone was done with lunch, John gave a presentation on the NWS service and Skywarn.  He also did a demonstration of there new toy, a tornado vortex simulator.  Hopefully he will be taking that on the road for the Skywarn training coming up next year.

The band conditions on Friday night were not that good.  Luckily, on Saturday, we were able to start make more contacts on HF.

During the event we made 110 contacts, 36 of those were with other National Weather Service offices.  With the 5 bonus points for working a NWS station on IRLP, we had a grand total of 41 points, we earned the "Nor'easter Certificate".

More information about the event can be found HERE.
