Collins Equipment

History:

A couple years ago, the family of Earl Dunne Sr. gave the club a Collins S-Line ham radio station. Mr. Dunne was the Corpus Christi Chief of Police during the 50s and was also a Colonel in the Texas State Guard.

The intent is to place the equipment on the USS Lexington as part of the walking tour exhibit. It would also be fun to operate period radio equipment on the Lady Lex during special events.

Before we could even think about operating the equipment, we needed someone to go through the equipment to see what worked, what didn't. K5CNZ, Jab Murray, a long time member of the club, who is a tube radio enthusiast, took on the project. We would like to thank Jab for his time and effort in refurbishing the equipment for use.
