We are promoting the Daytime Texas Traffic Net. It meets on 7285kHz from 8:30 – 9:30a.m. Monday - Saturday. The Daytime Texas Traffic Net is a voice traffic and training net. To help promote our voice net and the CW slow nets we have invited WB5NKD, Pat in OKC, to present her CW Training Lessons on the Daytime Texas Traffic Net. This will give folks the opportunity to copy a brief CW message, which is in NTS traffic format. Pat transmitts at about 5 wpm so it is a great source of practice copy for folks working on passing their CW test. After the CW QST we will have a voice message handling training lesson. These training QST’s will be presented about 09:00a.m. each morning on the Daytime Texas Traffic net. We are also encouraging everyone to stop by and check in on the Oklahoma Training Net which meets daily on 7120.6 at 5:20p.m., and the Texas Slow Net which meets daily on 3719 at 7:45p.m. These are slow speed CW nets and the lessons are based on the Baltimore Training Net lessons developed years ago. Net control on the Texas Slow Net alternates between 5 wpm and about 10 wpm so it is a great place to copy if you are working on increasing speed or brushing up on your CW. Many of the checkins will send faster than 10 wpm and some send a lot slower. It is a good chance to copy different stations at different speeds. Folks are allowed to make mistakes. Thats what a training net is all about. The there are 151 lessons which are cycled through so if you miss the beginning of the series it is repeated frequently throughout the year. The lessons take you through step by step on how to check into a CW net and pass NTS formatted traffic. Thanks and 73!! Pat KD5TXD |
